LyricSync doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. This page explains exactly what the extension does and why.
LyricSync is a Chrome extension that displays synced lyrics next to YouTube videos. To do this, it reads the video title and channel name that are already visible on the page you're watching, and uses them to search for matching lyrics.
When you watch a YouTube video, LyricSync sends the video title (and sometimes the channel name) to LRCLIB, a free, open-source lyrics database, in order to fetch matching lyrics. If you use the manual search feature, whatever you type into the search box is sent to LRCLIB the same way.
No other information, including your identity, your Google account, or your browsing history, is included in these requests. LRCLIB does not require any account or API key, and LyricSync does not attach any identifying information to these requests beyond the search query itself.
LyricSync uses Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to remember one thing: whether you've turned the lyrics panel on or off. This preference is stored only on your own device and is never sent anywhere.
LyricSync requests the minimum permissions needed to function:
